History

SPIRE BANK is a financial institution with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, with 11 branches spread throughout the Country. Established as a Finance Company in 1983, Spire Bank formerly Equatorial Commercial Bank Limited (ECB) commenced operations as a fully-fledged commercial bank in 1995. In June 2010, it merged with Southern Credit Banking Corporation, creating a new enlarged bank under the ECB brand. The merger gave the Bank the platform to further develop and grow in a dynamic and competitive marketplace. In 2015, Mwalimu National SACCO, through its holding company, acquired 75% of Equatorial Commercial Holdings Limited (ECH) which is the main shareholder in ECB and in 2016 ECB rebranded to Spire Bank. In November 2020, Mwalimu National SACCO increased their shareholding in ECH to 100%. With a diverse client base, Spire Bank provides a comprehensive package of financial services and products, tailored to suit its clients’ requirements, while keeping its procedures simple and rates competitive
